CBS Passed On The One New Sitcom You Were Probably Going To Watch

CBS announced its fall lineup earlier this morning, and for the most part, it’s a whole bunch of stuff you don’t care about. The Big Bang Theory is moving back to Mondays, something called Scorpion exists, CSI Cyber will follow The Good Wife on Sundays beginning midseason, so expect a lot of calls from grandma about “the tweeters?” on Monday morning, etc. But there are two new shows you might watch, or there were going to be, until one of them surprisingly didn’t get picked up.

That’s right, CBS passed on How I Met Your Dad, a spin-off of sorts of How I Met Your Mother, because “[the network and] producers apparently wanted different things, creatively.” Like for the main character to not spend seasons pining after one person, only to discard them minutes after they die?

Anyway, I guess the Year of Greta Gerwig will have to wait until 2015, which is when the now-only promising new CBS show, Battle Creek, will premiere. It stars log of wood Josh Duhamel, but is produced by Vince Gilligan, Rectify‘s Mark Johnson, and House‘s David Shore, so who knows? Maybe Battle Creek, Michigan, will become the next Albuquerque, except swap blue meth for…normal meth.
