I was in the spelling bee one time in grade school and I look back on it with much contempt. I lost out by misspelling a bullsh*t word and I let the judges know it, ending any chance at redemption and closing out that chapter of my life.
15-year-old Jacob Williamson took his failure with a little more grace. He was a clear favorite in this years National Spelling Bee, but had one fatal misstep that has plagued man since antiquity: hubris.
A fantastic, entertaining bit of hubris that should shoot him into Internet fame at least. They’ve already started to try to remix him with Lil’ Jon. The kid landed on his feet and continues running. You’ll get them next time, Jacob.
