Someone out there on YouTube made this amazing version of the Game of Thrones theme song and opening credits, not only ’80s-fied — but for extra authenticity, recreated it to appear as if it had been taped off of HBO onto VHS and lovingly watched dozens of times. (Side note: I can’t even begin to tell you how many taped VHS movies I had as a kid that started with this introduction.) Aside from nailing the look and feel of an ’80s series right down to the typography, they impressively even remixed the theme song so it sounds authentically cheesy. I would have never imagined that the Game of Thrones song would lend itself so perfectly to ’80s synthpop, but there you have it.
