Regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of Modern Family, one thing we can all probably agree on is that Eric Stonestreet seems like a pretty good dude. In a recent interview, Stonestreet star was recalling about how President Obama was recently casually mentioning how much he and his family love Mitchell and Cam on the series, and how inspiring and incredible it was.
Less incredibly, however, he recounted a time at the White House Correspondents Dinner when Rick Santorum, who we all know is the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is the by-product of anal sex (whoops, wrong Santorum) — approached him for a photo op:
Stonestreet [says] that he loves attending the White House Correspondents Dinner because he gets to see politicians “for who they are,” and he’s often shocked at who approaches him. For instance:
“Rick Santorum wanted a picture with me. It was at a time when he was publicly saying, ‘Gay marriage, gay marriage [is wrong],’ and I’m like, ‘You know, I can’t do it,'” he said. “It was with him and his kids or something like that, and I said, ‘I’d be happy to take a picture with the kids, but I can’t just be in a picture with [Santorum.]'”
If you’d like a refresher on Rick Santorum’s thoughts on homosexuality, let me direct you to this wikipedia article titled, “Rick Santorum’s Views On Homosexuality.” Long story short, he thinks it’s an abomination and you might as well be f*cking your dog. Eric Stonestreet, on the other hand, is responsible for a character on a television series that has arguably had more of an positive impact on homosexual lifestyles than anything else in recent pop culture.
So what does this mean, is Rick Santorum actually a closeted non-bigot? Or did he just want a copy of the photo so he could draw dicks all over it? In either case, good on you, Eric Stonestreet.
