The more obscure the town, the better the music festival. Before Coachella and Bonnaroo came along, no one knew where Indio, California and Manchester, Tennessee were located (I still really don’t, but I know of them). The same goes for Shakopee, Minnesota, which this Sunday hosts one of the country’s greatest single-day festivals: Soundset 2012, a nine-hour appreciation of great independent hip hop.
Artists on this year’s bill include Atmosphere, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, Kendrick Lamar, Aesop Rock, Danny Brown, Big K.R.I.T, Action Bronson, I Self Devine, and dozens more. It’s a killer lineup, and to get you (even more) pumped, the Minneapolis DJ collective Get Cryphy has put together a mix featuring every act performing on Sunday. Whether you can or can’t make it the festival (tickets are still available!), give it a spin — it’s never a bad time to listen to Ghostface Killah.
