After dealing with a very public accusation by a porn star of treating her like a dating service, Michael Del Zotto’s 2014 could only get better. Well…that is until last night when he nearly got himself Clint Malarchuk-ed.
The Philadelphia Flyer defenseman returned to the ice after sitting out for nine games as a healthy scratch for the New Year’s Eve matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. During his first shift, Del Zotto fell into the corner, tripping up Colorado’s Danny Briere. As Briere attempted to step over him, he caught Del Zotto’s neck in the process, and oh, guys, what resulted is super gross.

Afterwards, Del Zotto posted a graphic picture of the injury to his Instagram account. Stop scrolling now if you can’t handle bloody injuries or just ate dinner and would like to keep it inside you:
I know the new year is a time for fresh starts, but I might suggest avoiding making Terry Sawchuck your aesthetic goal in 2015.
