With a lot more vulgarity and a little more toilet octopus, we could be looking at the closest thing we’ll ever see to a live-action Archer movie. Instead, it’s the action-packed trailer for Guy Ritchie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E., a big screen adaptation of the classic 1960s TV series that, like most spy stories, was influenced by Ian Fleming’s James Bond. After several years of rumors and casting shakeups, the role of Napoleon Solo was finally accepted by Henry Cavill, while Illya Kuryakin is played by Armie Hammer. Can these two once-rival secret agents get along? Who knows? But you can bet they’ll do it in typical Guy Ritchie style.
Napoleon Solo once seemed to belong to Tom Cruise, as his fondness of remaking 60s spy shows as action blockbusters is well documented, but he eventually bailed to focus on Mission: Impossible sequels that will keep his thetans and bank account charged for the next million years. Channing Tatum was also briefly considered for the role, but no dance battles, no C-Tates yo.
