There’s going to be a lot of creepy Kirkman stuff on TV soon: the creator of AMC’s The Walking Dead Robert Kirkman signed a deal with Cinemax for a 10-episode order of a series based on his comic Outcast, making this the third television adaptation of one of his own books including the upcoming spinoff of The Walking Dead.
Kirkman successfully sold the pilot back in July, but not much more is known about it aside from the cast members and the plot:
Kyle Barnes has been plagued by demonic possession all his life and now he needs answers. Unfortunately, what he uncovers along the way could bring about the end of life on Earth as we know it.
The only other solid detail we have is that Kirkman knows exactly how he wants the Outcast series to end. Will it end by the time these ten episodes are over or will there be another season? That has yet to be seen. But HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo seems confident, as most executives are when deals like this one are signed:
“We are thrilled to be in business with Robert Kirkman, a visionary talent who has the unique ability to tap into today’s zeitgeist, making him a perfect fit for the newly expanded Cinemax roster.”
In case the Cinemax name is giving you pause, remember that The Knick is doing quite well and Banshee was just renewed for a fourth season. Cinemax — it ain’t just skin flicks anymore, kids. (Except for ripped up, bloody skin. That’s on Cinemax.)
