One of the most head-scratching rumors lately was the possibility of a crossover sequel between the Jump Street and Men in Black franchises. Then, when it seemed over and done with, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller went on record earlier this year saying it was still on the table. So, just how interesting is this idea? Well, according to Chris Miller, it’s a thinker:
It’s very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch, but it’s definitely a really interesting concept that makes you think. Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and Rodney and the studio, we can’t just do the, “Hey, it’s the same thing again” schtick because we did that already. (Via)
In regard to how the crossover would play into the sequels featured at the end of the last film during the credits, Miller added:
Those are canon, all 22 sequels. If we’re going to do something, it’s got to be different but still have that same very specific Jump Street flavor to it. (Via)
The more Miller speaks to the idea of the crossover, the more real it starts to become. Of course, everything could implode with a new studio chair at Sony, but for now, Jump Street/Men in Black is still a possibility.
