Marc Gasol, Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, And Tony Allen Will Sit Versus Wizards

Dave Joerger is taking a page from the Gregg Popovich coaching handbook. The Memphis Grizzlies announced that Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Tony Allen will sit-out Thursday’s nationally televised matchup with the Washington Wizards to rest.

Mike Conley, who tweaked his right ankle during Wednesday’s loss to the Boston Celtics, will also miss tonight’s game.

Thursday’s contest marks Memphis’ third game in four nights. Despite still possessing the West’s second-best record at 45-19, the Grizzlies are just 4-5 in their past nine outings – a stretch that includes losses to three opponents with losing records.

The struggling Wizards have caught a big break by Joerger electing to sit his core players. Washington is 3-8 in its past 11 games and has a losing record since January 1, loosening its firm grasp of first round home-court advantage in the process.

The Grizzlies and Wizards tip-off from Verizon Center at 7:00 EST on TNT.
