Weekend Preview: ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Finale, The Rock On ‘SNL’, And College Basketball

The Walking Dead
(AMC, Sunday 9:00 p.m.) — Somebody’s for sure going to die in the season finale, the question is who? I’m thinking Sasha, but maybe it’ll be someone surprising like Eugene or Abraham. Even though I like his character, I kinda want to see how both the show and the audience would react to the death of Daryl, since he doesn’t really strike me as an indispensable part of the show anymore. But who knows, maybe Daryl will stumble onto something or somebody out on the road with Aaron. Maybe it’ll be next season’s big bad or a new friend for the group.

Also, don’t forget that the trailer for Fear The Walking Dead is set to premiere during The Talking Dead, which will follow The Walking Dead, of course.

NCAA March Madness (CBS/TBS, All Weekend) — On Friday, UCLA takes on Gonzaga at 7:15 p.m. on CBS, NC State goes up against Louisville at 7:37 p.m. on TBS, Utah tussles with Duke at 9:45 p.m. on CBS, and Michigan St. faces off against Oklahoma at 10:07 p.m.

On Saturday, Arizona battles Wisconsin at 6:09 p.m. on CBS and Notre Dame embraces the challenge of trying to best Kentucky at 8:49 on TBS.

On Sunday, catch regional finals action at 2:20 p.m. and 5:05 p.m.

The Last Man on Earth (FOX, Sunday 9:00-10:00 p.m.) — Another double episode. Phil turned a corner last week, but I’m starting to wonder when we’re gonna cut all this #TucsonLiving with some kind of a road trip or… something.

Grimm (NBC, Friday 8:00 p.m.) — Renard deals with random bouts of phantom bleeding and Hank and Nick try to get to solve a bizarre murder. You want normal murder solvings? Rent Law & Order and get your Orbach on.

Girl Meets World (Disney, Friday 8:30 p.m.) — “Girl” meets her first date after her father, Cory (aka, former “Boy”), gives her permission so long as she brings Maya and Farkle along. Did Cory have such restrictions when he and Topanga went to play laser tag and get fribbles for their first date? I don’t think so. Not cool, former “Boy.”

Syfy Friday Night Dramas (Syfy, Friday 9:00-11:00 p.m.) — Cole ventures back to Tokyo in 1987 on 12 Monkeys and the Navy gets ready to go to extremes to wipe out the threat of the virus.

Black Sails (Starz, Saturday 9:00 p.m.) — In the season finale, Flint gets a new friend and a bunch of pirate things happen. I recognize that I’m not assisting in the effort to hook new viewers with these words.

Saturday Night Live (NBC, Saturday 11:30 p.m.) — The Rock makes his fourth appearance as host and George Ezra performs. The classic SNL rerun that airs at 10:00 p.m. features Sigourney Weaver and Buster Poindexter and it’s actually Phil Hartman’s first episode as a cast member. So that’s a pretty cool thing for you to watch if you’re so inclined.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (HBO, Sunday 8:00 p.m.) — Alex Gibney’s buzzed about look at the Church of Scientology makes its debut and it doesn’t look like a love letter. Watch it if you’re so inclined, but know that Tom Cruise probably won’t approve.

LATE NIGHT GUESTS
: Will Forte, Adam Horovitz, and Jeremy Wade on Fallon.
