Draymond Green Is Selling ‘Cool Story, Glenn’ Shirts, Further Boosting His Beef With Doc Rivers

On Tuesday, the Clippers and Warriors will play for the last time before the postseason rolls around. One can only hope they meet again in the playoffs after going seven exciting games in the first round last year. The wattage of their rivalry was magnified by what took place after their last encounter — a 106-98 Warriors win.

That’s because Clippers 12th man Dahntay Jones bumped Draymond Green during his post-game interview. When asked about the bump in the locker room later, Green made light of Jones’ second-tier bench role on the Clippers, saying “When you don’t play, that’s probably his role on that team,” before wondering aloud if Jones might get fined for his transgression on so public a stage.

Sure enough, Jones was fined $10,000 and Doc decided to defend his player, questioning Green’s toughness if a little bump could get him so riled up:

“I guess that tough guy at Golden State, I mean, I think the bump was too hard for him, clearly, the way he reacted.”

That’s where we stopped following the story because it was even more inane than the back-and-forth we’re normally covering. But the quibble wasn’t entirely squashed. Per Inside Bay Area:

Played the clip of Rivers’ comments during his weekly radio show, Green responded.

“Cool story, bro. Cool story, Glenn. Very cool story, Glenn,” Green said.

“I don’t have no reason to worry about what Glenn has to say…Why would I worry about what Glenn has to say? More power to him.”

Glenn is coach Doc Rivers’ given name, which we guess is meant as a slight; although, we’re not really sure how.

But now Draymond is selling t-shirts and hoodies emblazoned with the line, “Cool story, Glenn,” right before the Clippers and Warriors play on Tuesday.

You can get a hoodie for $45 and a tee for $25 or $32. Dray wasn’t backing down from his new online wares, either, but also added that there’s no disrespect intended. Sure.

“I approved it,” Green said Friday… “A lot of fans kept asking me for it, so the person who runs my store thought that it would be a good idea.

“They sent me the design. I approved.”

[…]

“It’s not for a lack of respect,” Green said. “I respect him. It’s fun. Throughout the course of the season, you find things that’s funny. You have to. It’s just fun. It’s no disrespect.”

We’re still not really sure why this would piss Glen–er Doc off, but seemingly innocuous happenings can send him into a tizzy. We’re guessing a lot of Dubs fans will be rocking these shirts if they travel down to Los Angeles where the Warriors conclude their current road trip on Tuesday at Staples Center. We can’t wait.
