Derrick Rose’s Son Is The New Cool Basketball Child

Post-game press conferences are rarely valuable for the casual fan; the athletes and coaches are usually too well-schooled in the media circus to say anything of value, and many reporters don’t push too hard, instead opting to squeeze a trite athlete quote into the storyline they want to push, hence all the “talk about…” prompts in lieu of open questions. The few times they do get interesting are normally because someone says something stupid.

The most notable exception to this rule is the introduction of young children to the proceedings. We saw this a couple of years ago when Chris Paul brought his son up to do an impression of Blake Griffin, and that catapulted Lil’ Chris into fame, enough to get him his own mustachio’d doppelganger like his daddy. (WARNING: Link leads to a commercial you’ve probably seen a million times already.)

So, it’s with great pleasure that we welcome P.J., also known as Lil’ D-Rose, Derrick Rose’s adorable son, to press conference fame. Lil’ D-Rose was here to console Bulls fans after LeBron’s buzzer-beater in Game 4 of the Bulls-Cavs Eastern Conference Semifinal. He accomplished this with his sassy eyebrow raise (see above) and his general coolness (see below):

And, of course, once something gets Twitter going, the memes roll in, and a couple were pretty good:

Luckily, being that Derrick Rose isn’t on the State Farm sponsorship roster, we won’t have Lil’ D-Rose shoved down our throats until he’s no longer interesting to us. We hope his father brings him to more press conferences so get more P.J. reaction faces.
