And that’s why the Washington Wizards signed Paul Pierce.
The future Hall-of-Famer’s game-winning jumper gave his team a crazy 103-101 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Washington led Atlanta 94-74 as the fourth quarter clock read 7:37 and Mike Budenholzer had appeared to wave the white flag by putting all of his starters on the bench. But the Hawks came roaring back behind Dennis Schröder to tie the game on Mike Muscala’s triple with 14 seconds remaining, setting the stage for last-second dramatics.
And like Derrick Rose before him, Pierce didn’t call glass, either.
Truth.
The Wizards now lead the Hawks 2-1.
