New Charlotte Hornets forward Frank Kaminksy may not know what barbecue really is and might also have said that games in Charlotte are “boring,” but he has made up for it in lots of ways, most notably with the tanks sewn into his Draft Day suit, and also some extremely strange but great JCPenney videos on YouTube.
Kaminsky playing up his goofiness is a great, great thing. He and his Wisconsin teammates thoroughly owned the NCAA Tournament with their banter during press conferences, and Kaminsky’s deadpan delivery could make him the next Blake Griffin when it comes to marketability (assuming, of course, the top-ten pick — who Michael Jordan was so enthralled by, he turned down a whole bunch of picks in a potential trade — is able to stick around in the league and be a star.)
Plus athletes modeling and talking about clothes is always positive. We need more of that in general. Go get ’em, Frank.
