It’s impossible for us to be impartial here. Dirk Nowitzki is one of our favorite players of all time, an MVP, a Finals MVP, a champion and the greatest basketball import in NBA history (Dream played college ball with Phil Slamma Jamma Houston, so he doesn’t count). Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, a two-time MVP and Super Bowl champion. Both will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame after they retire. Both are old as dirt.
OK, that’s not fair. Peyton will turn 40 in March next year and Dirk will turn 38 in June. But they’re both geezers in their respective sports. As such, Dirk and his teammates were discussing an amusing hypothetical in the locker room the other day.
Had this debate the other day in the locker room: Who wins a 40 yard dash between me and Peyton Manning???

It’s an important question that probably doesn’t have an answer, or at least won’t unless both want to risk pulling a hamstring. If they did race, picture a slightly more athletic variation of Inside the NBA‘s contest from a few years back when we swear Chuck and Ernie were in collusion by pulling up lame after a purported false start (also, Kenny definitely lost to Webber at the end by pulling a Leon Lett).
Anyways, we spent way too much time making the above video, and we doubt any of you will laugh as hard as when we used Vengelis to set the scene for Prince Fielder.
But we did it anyway because we’re masochists. Basketball that counts starts next week. Happy Friday.
