It seems like there are more and more updates every day on the status of former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom. The latest development came on Friday night, when TMZ learned that Odom suffered 12 strokes early in his stay at the Sunrise hospital in Nevada and they’ve impacted his ability to walk and talk.
Lamar Odom suffered 12 strokes early on in his medical emergency, TMZ has learned, and they affected his motor skills.
Doctors performed a series of brain scans on Lamar and discovered the strokes. Although the strokes didn’t affect vital organs, we’re told they did have an impact on his ability to walk and talk.
Odom’s doctors aren’t sure if these will permanently impact him. He’ll undergo therapy to overcome his loss of motor skills. TMZ also reports that the main issue with Odom are his kidneys, which seems to confirm a report from earlier this week that said his kidneys were “shot.”
There are also beefed up security measures in place at Odom’s hospital. Guards are outside of his room 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they’re restricting the number of employees who interact with him, reports TMZ.
We’re told the team wants to make sure Odom is comfortable and doesn’t have to worry about anyone on the premises sneaking photos of Lamar in his hospital bed or sneaking out info of his medical records.
We’re also told … the hospital has limited the number of nurses, doctors and other medical staff who interact with Lamar … because a smaller group of people means a smaller chance of a leak.
It’s been said a lot over the last few weeks, but here’s to hoping that Odom is able to bounce back from this.
