LeBron James is reportedly taking the rest of the preseason off after he received an injection for his sore back, says Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal. Back injuries always need to be taken seriously, but don’t go ringing any alarm bells just yet. Everyone in the know says it’s business as usual.
With Cavs having a depleted roster due to injuries, steps being taken to have James prepared for season. Has had these shots in back before

Regarding LeBron, guys get shots all the time & we never know. Sounds like a bigger deal than what it really is.Should be fine for season

Lloyd says it’s the same procedure that kept LeBron out for two weeks in the middle of last season, after which he and the Cavaliers improved dramatically and proceeded to steamroll the league (until body parts started falling off of everyone).
If LeBron’s back is barking, now’s the right time to get this done, so he can be ready for the start of the season. The Cavs are not coming into the season healthy, even if you don’t count this as an issue for LeBron — Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving are still on the way back from respective surgeries, Iman Shumpert has a wrist injury, and Anderson Varejao is still getting acclimated to the game after missing the majority of last season with a torn Achilles.
And for those wondering what LeBron may have done to re-injure his back, this was reportedly a planned absence. Or maybe his back just hurts from carrying the Cavs through the postseason last year (zing!).
