How susceptible are you to peer pressure? Did you pass on every joint in college? Wait on having sex past the first person asking you to? Probably not, right? In that case, you’re a spineless weakling compared to A.C. Green, the former Laker and Sun (among others) who has the all-time NBA record for consecutive games played, and who didn’t drink, do drugs or have sex through any of it — not even sharing a locker room with Magic Johnson in the ’80s. He sounds like either the most fascinating individual or the most boring, but Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, producers of Anchorman and Step Brothers and a great many other comedies, are betting on the former, because they’re executive producing a documentary about the man.
Ferrell will reportedly conduct the interviews in The Iron Virgin, which should draw a lot of interest. Few names could be trusted more to mine the humor in a story about Magic sending girls to A.C.’s hotel room to bang him, only for the born-again Christian to shout Bible verses at them through the door. (For the less pure of heart, Magic sounds like a fun teammate.) The one thing we’ll have to wait and find out is how much the doc delves into his basketball career, what with the Iron Man record and the fact that he’s the only player to win a title with both Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant.
By the way, in case you were wondering, Green has had sex — when he married his wife in 2002, the year after he retired. It’s 14 years later, but congrats, A.C.!
