Minnesota has a better record than the Cavs. After beating Brooklyn last night, 98-91, the ‘Wolves are 2-2, while the Cavs stumbled to 1-3. Andrew Wiggins was a large reason why the ‘Wolves jumped to .500 in Brooklyn, but his fellow No. 1 pick, Anthony Bennett had the play of the night with a monster, and-1 jam on Mason Plumlee.
Bennett works the pick-and-roll with Mo Williams to perfection, and Kevin Garnett doesn’t get back in time to stop the bounce pass and two-handed flush in Plumlee’s grill.
That was Bennett’s only field goal of the night — he was 1-for-4 from the field — and his plus/minus numbers were pretty abysmal, too; the ‘Wolves were -15 when he was on the court.
Still, rookie Wiggins had 17 points (7/12 over, 1/1 on 3pt) and four rebounds, Ricky Rubio put up a double-double (14 points, 12 dimes), and Kevin Martin had a team-high 26 as the ‘Wolves cruised. While Bennett wasn’t a large part of their win, he at least got to lay a smack-down on fellow 2013 Draftee, Plumlee.
