There’s nothing quite as exciting as hitting a buzzer beater, even if it’s just a shot at the end of a quarter when your team is already blowing out your opponent. That’s what happened Thursday when Bobby Portis extended the Chicago Bulls’ lead to 82-67 over the Philadelphia 76ers at the end of three quarters.
Portis was so happy that he nearly removed Jimmy Butler’s hand with a passionate high-five on the way to the bench.

Butler had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists but it was the high-five that led to his key quote from after the game.
“I know if Bobby smacks my hand as hard as he did again,” Butler said with a smile, “we’re going to go toe-to-toe.”
That’s one of those quotes where he was joking but not totally joking.
“Hahaha but seriously, you almost dislocated three of my fingers so don’t do that again.”
This can be a serious issue. Russell Martin of the Toronto Blue Jays needed stitches in his hand after a high-five gone wrong last year. Jeff Baker of the Texas Rangers once sprained his thumb when a teammate gave him too hard of a high-five in 2013.
If high-fiving is too difficult, you can always go with the safer thumb’s up or wink at a teammate. Don’t injure key players before the playoffs because you sank a bucket to put your team up 14 points.
