You know what sports championship celebrations always have?
Smiling. Hugging. Pure joy.
You know what sports championship celebrations never have?
Projectile vomiting.
Folks, if the Boston Celtics win a championship with Brad Stevens as coach, we may finally get the puking we have been lacking.
Legendary Celtics coach Red Auerbach is known for his cigars as much as his success, so when Stevens joined the Celtics three years ago, he received cigars as gifts. The only problem for Stevens? He’s not exactly a cigar guy, according to the bonus section of an Indianapolis Star story, but that doesn’t mean his wife doesn’t want to see him smoke one:
“When I first got here, it was a nice common courtesy gift that people gave me. Anyone that knows me knows if I try to smoke a cigar I would probably throw up on the spot. She wants us to win for many reasons, but the biggest reason is to see me throw up on the court once I smoke that stogie.”
That’s what a great marriage is all about — hoping to see the other person puke so you can laugh at them.
No, wait. That’s what fraternities are all about.
Either way, if the Celtics land Kevin Durant in free agency and become a title contender, we have a very good reason to root for Boston.
