The Clippers thoroughly dominated the No. 2 team in the Western Conference last night, throttling Memphis 97-79. Chris Paul led the way with 19 points, 13 dimes and just one turnover. His mastery of Memphis’ Jon Leuer on this fourth-quarter give-and-go with DeAndre Jordan, was our favorite bucket of the night.
The play reminded us of Larry Bird pump-faking at the elbow to get his man in the air before dishing it to McHale or Parish for the return pass at the rim.
Leuer shouldn’t feel bad, though. CP3 had Nick Calathes on ice with a step-back on his next bucket in the final session. The fourth quarter has always been CP3’s time.
And he shamed Mike Conley early in the third period.
All eight playoff teams in the Western Conference could win the NBA Championship. LA’s domination of Memphis at home just provides further proof of that notion.
