Agent Zero hasn’t played an NBA game since suiting up for Memphis in May of 2012. Still, Gilbert Arenas continues to be pop up in the public consciousness, most recently in last night’s episode of Jeopardy. Unfortunately for Nacho (he’s got more nicknames than Shaq), his brief appearance wasn’t for anything he did on the court.
During the 2009-10 season, Gilbert Arenas stepped in the middle of a disagreement over a card game between JaVale McGee and Javaris Crittenton. Crittenton then threatened Arenas with gunfire. Gilbert responded by bringing four firearms — including one sidearm straight from Goldeneye — into the locker room the next day and gave Crittenton a note asking him to “PICK 1” to follow through on his threat.
Instead of Crittenton taking Gil up on his offer to “pick 1,” he pulled his own gun out, upping the ante on what was originally just a dispute over a card game.
Rememmber all of this went down in the locker room, a place Michele Roberts believes should be off limits to the press. In the case of Gil and Crittenton, we agree.
No shooting took place, thank God, and Crittenton and Arenas were eventually suspended for the remainder of the season.
The Bullets hint sounded great in Trebeck’s deadpan delivery.
