J.R. Smith is one of the most frustrating players in the NBA. There are moments when he appears unguardable, while other times he looks like the worst player out there. Both his play and demeanor on and off the court can be erratic. He has frustrated coaches from George Karl in Denver, to Mike Woodson in New York.
However, the one thing that remains consistent for Smith is, whenever his favorite rapper Lil Wayne releases an album or drops a new track, Smith’s game is taken to another level.
Take a look for yourself:
Smith’s numbers see a dramatic rise whenever a Lil Wayne project is released. He averages six more points per game, and shoots nearly fifty percent from the field while raising both his rebounds and assists per game.
So the answer is yes.
No one is sure when Wayne will release a new project, as he might have bigger issues on his mind at the moment. When he does, though, you can bet J.R. Smith will have a big game. We just don’t know if it’ll be with the Cleveland Cavaliers or not.
