Kevin Durant didn’t rake Justin Anderson across the face on purpose. While officials reviewed the foul, the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar repeatedly made efforts to apologize to his Dallas Mavericks counterpart. Intent didn’t matter with respect to the present, though, and Durant was ejected with under a minute remaining in his team’s Game 4 win at American Airlines Center.
Durant, remember, was assessed a retroactive technical foul after Game 3 for throwing a needless elbow at Salah Mejri. Will the league office take that into account while reviewing the former MVP’s status for Game 5? Certainly. Will decision makers consider that his contact was accidental? Thunder fans should certainly hope so.
We’ll keep you updated on the fallout from Durant’s automatic ejection as the situation develops.
