In a scene fit for an episode of Ballers or Entourage, Tom Brady was apparently a part of the Boston Celtics pitch to free agency prize Kevin Durant. A picture surfaced of Brady with the Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and players Marcus Smart and Kelly Olynyk. It certainly got the internet buzzing. As with all things online, it seemed a little skeptical until multiple reporters confirmed that Brady was indeed a part of the Celtics’ pitch.
Confirmed — per multiple sources. Tom Brady is at the Celtics meeting with Kevin Durant.

Which obviously was exciting for the most renowned Boston sports fan around these days, Bill Simmons.
TOM BRADY MIGHT BE AT THE DURANT MEETING AND I HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO BREATHE AND BLINK SEND HELP NOW

Simmons was one of the first people to imagine a Durant and Celtics pairing back in March on his podcast, and a few months later it has become a genuine possibility. Durant obviously has many suitors and still has meetings with San Antonio, Miami and another Oklahoma City visit to attend, but it’s clear the Celts are pulling out all the stops to lure the superstar to town. Although, it is a little damning of the Celtics own roster that they had to bring in a star from another sport to try and sell KD on the move.
As Adrian Wojnarowski points out, Brady is crossing one business line to help make the pitch to Durant, the Under Armour vs. Nike apparel war.
One NBA executive on Tom Brady joining the Celtics contingent in Hamptons today: "Why bring an UnderArmour guy to a Durant/Nike meeting?"

Durant obviously has his allegiance with the Swoosh, but it’s doubtful that Brady was there to give KD any shoes anyway, Still, it’s an interesting nugget in a weird vetting process for free agents. The Celtics have made their pitch, and — just like the rest of the NBA — they’ll be waiting on Durant’s decision in the coming days.
