Fair or not, these NBA Finals have not been very kind to Kevin Love.
That was put on full display during Monday night’s Game 5 in Oakland when Love appeared to try to high-five LeBron during the first half and then appeared to be brutally rejected by teammate LeBron James. It didn’t look like the countless other times we’ve seen athletes left accidentally hanging on a high-five attempt. This seemed to be intentional.
However, there’s a good chance Love wasn’t even actually seeking a high five from LeBron at all. After a thorough investigation, it appears that Love may have been claiming that he had his hand up on defense, an argument to which LeBron provided a counterpoint. (Better look at the video here.)
But the Vine is so damn good, even if it’s misleading. Just look how quickly the joy melts off Love’s face and immediately turns to blindsided, confused shame. The internet obviously couldn’t resist having a ton of fun at Love’s expense, and far be it from me to poop on everyone’s party.

Love has already said during the Finals that he doesn’t really understand why he has so many doubters lately, so the guy has to be wondering if he can do anything right at this point. Scoring more than just two points on 1-of-5 shooting is probably a good start, though.
