Should we start calling him The Fisher King? It was definitely an overreaction, but LeBron James was just as upset as Cavs fans when he missed a pair of free throws to beat Houston in overtime yesterday. He took full responsibility after the game, too, but then it veered into an odd pity party only Stuart Smiley could save him from.
Per the Northeast Ohio Media Group, comes LeBron’s sad-sack comments after the game. He burndened himself alone for the loss, which is commendable and also accurate.
“I tricked the game up at the free throw line,” James said afterwards, clearly upset with himself.
[…]
“I just didn’t have a rhythm,” James said. “It’s no excuse, no excuse. I missed free throws, I missed the two biggest ones of the game to put us up with seconds on the clock. I failed my teammates.”
[…]
“Guys put us in position to win the game and I didn’t come through for them,” he said. “It won’t happen again.”
As a reminder, James shot 15-of-35 (42.9 percent) from the field, which isn’t awful but is just one shot off a career high number of attempts. Plus, he was 3-of-11 from the charity stripe, including two misses with 4.2 seconds left in overtime that could have won the game.
His tweet was fine, too. It mirrored what he said after the game.
Way to trick it off today Bron!

James’ Instagram post — where he’s looking at himself in the mirror and talking to himself in the caption — was downright eerie.
As you can imagine, a lot of people had fun with it.
LeBron, we just want to remind you, you’re good enough, you’re smart enough, and doggone it, people like you.
Even the GOAT occasionally needed that reminder…
For now, LeBron, try to forget some have crowned a new King.

Use your poor performance as motivation. Doggone it, people are gonna give you a hard time on the Internet regardless of what you do. Might as well have some fun with it.
