The 2017 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game takes place two days before the real game in New Orleans. ESPN is trying to make the 6 p.m. SportsCenter a thing, so the teams will be coached by hosts Michael Smith and Jemele Hill.
Anyway, here are the celebrity rosters, courtesy of the NBA:
Michael Smith’s West Team: Miles Brown (actor), Tom Cavanagh (actor), Mark Cuban (Mavericks owner), Baron Davis (former NBA player), Andy Grammer (musician), Jiang Jinfu (musician), Anthony Mackie (actor), Romeo Miller (musician/actor), Hasan Minhaj (actor/comedian), Master P (musician/actor), Candace Parker (WNBA player), and Aaron Sanchez (celebrity chef)
Jemele Hill’s East Team: Brandon Armstrong (social media star and UPROXX video host), Win Butler (musician), Nick Cannon (actor/musician), Rachel DeMita (NBA 2K and TV personality and DIME on UPROXX video host), Ansel Elgort (actor/musician), Marc Lasry (Bucks owner), Caleb McLaughlin (actor), Peter Rosenberg (media personality), Oscar Schmidt (former international basketball player), Lindsay Whalen (WNBA player), Jason Williams (former NBA player), and Kris Wu (musician)
Michael Smith’s assistant coaches are Draymond Green and Rocsi Diaz. Jemele Hill’s assistants are Kyle Lowry and Fat Joe.
From a strict “Have I Heard Of This Person?” standpoint, you have to like Smith’s roster. They have Baron Davis! In terms of star power, Smith has a famous rapper, an Avenger and Ed.
But don’t sleep on Hill’s team, as they have not one, but two different people who have hosted videos on this very website in Armstrong and DeMita. Both of them are great ballers in their own right.
Even with Bdot and Rachel, I still expect Smith’s team should roll. Brown is only 11 years old, but I expect him to work over Elgort in the low block. Davis is going to drop 50 on Schmidt. Parker over Whalen in the WNBA category. Although White Chocolate may have some big moments.
And Bdot can definitely hang on the rim longer than anyone on both teams:
If Smith blows this, it will be the worst coaching job since the Falcons choked away the Super Bowl to the Patriots.
The game airs Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
