On the first day of free agency, the New Orleans Pelicans didn’t waste any time keeping their frontcourt intact. First, they signed Anthony Davis to a historic five-year contract worth $145 million. Now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, they’ve sewn up 7’2 center Omer Asik with a five-year, $60 million deal.

Together, they comprise one of the most formidable paint presences in the NBA. If Davis continues to expand his range out beyond the three-point line, they’ll enjoy the type of spacing that is almost a necessity in the modern NBA while still being able to protect the rim.
