Prior to Kevin Durant becoming a free agent this offseason, many people thought that he was headed to Washington. KD is a native of the nation’s capital, and the Wizards had a pretty intriguing situation – come home, play with one of the best backcourts in the NBA, and immediately threaten the Cleveland Cavaliers at the top of the Eastern Conference.
That, of course, did not happen, as Durant decided to leave Oklahoma City to create Basketball Voltron with the Golden State Warriors. Still, KD’s love for D.C.’s teams is well-known, and on Monday, he decided to go support his Redskins (which he hopes to own some day) as they took on the Steelers. He was also there because the team was honoring local Olympians, which gave us this fun reminder that Durant is huge.

It, uh, didn’t go well. Washington lost to Pittsburgh, 38-16, in a game where the ‘Skins had no answer for Steelers WR Antonio Brown or RB DeAngelo Williams. At one point, Brown did something and ended up right near Durant, who got a look on his face of total defeat. Considering how his tenure in Oklahoma City ended, a bunch of people made the same joke regarding Durant…

Of course, it’s possible that Durant was thinking of something other than the whooping that Pittsburgh was hanging on Washington. For example, it’s not crazy to think that, at that very moment, it dawned on KD that he was joining the team that lost a 3-1 lead in the Finals with the first-ever unanimous league MVP and Game 7 on its home floor.
