The Warriors and Celtics gave us one of the best games of the 2017-18 regular season so far on Saturday night as the reigning champs edged out Boston at home in a 109-105 win.
The stars of the show on Saturday night at Oracle Arena were the All-Star starting point guards as Steph Curry and Kyrie Irving put on a show on ESPN. Curry finished the game with 49 points, five assists and four rebounds in one of his best performances of the season, while Irving wasn’t far behind with 37 points, four assists and a pair of boards.
Curry said after the game that being matched up with Kyrie brings “the best out of each other” and that was absolutely the case on Saturday night. Irving won the first half battle with 19 points compared to 16 from Curry, including knocking down some incredibly difficult contested three-pointers and whatever the hell this move was.

Curry caught fire in the third, lighting up the Celtics as Golden State stormed back to take the lead, by as many as double digits.

The fourth quarter was an epic duel between the two, with Irving showing why he’s arguably the best one-on-one player in the league . Irving sliced up the Warriors defense, no matter who Golden State threw at him, and flaunted his absurd finishing ability at the rim with a variety of tough finishes.

Ultimately, despite Irving attacking the rim with incredible success late, it was Curry that sealed Golden State’s win. This walk up three-pointer put the Warriors up for good, and Curry tacked on late free throws to put the game on ice.

If the current standings hold and the Cavs fail to make it a fourth straight meeting with the Warriors, Saturday night’s game proved we could still have plenty of fun and excitement with Warriors-Celtics thanks to the dynamic point guard matchup.
