Like everyone else in Cleveland, Mo Williams had his heart broken when LeBron James announced his decision to take his talents to South Beach back in 2010. To add insult to injury, Williams apparently found out about it just like the rest of us did.
He then embarked on a public grieving process via social media that very nearly culminated in him retiring from basketball altogether. But Williams eventually picked up the pieces, stayed on in Cleveland for another half-season, then embraced his inevitable fate as an NBA journeyman in the latter part of his career.
Now, things appear to be turning full circle.
Free agent guard Mo Williams anticipates meeting with #Cavs, league source tells @Clevelanddotcom. The team "very interested" in his return.

We all know that LeBron’s only weakness is for nostalgia, but Williams won’t enjoy a role resembling anything close to the number two status he ascended to during his previous stint with the Cavs. If anything, he’ll be relegated to backup point guard, and then only if feisty Aussie bulwark Matthew Dellavedova escapes the Cavs’ clutches in free agency.
Still, it would be a feel-good story to see Williams return to the team where he experienced by far his most success as a player, even if it’s in a largely diminished role.
