Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has been at the forefront of some of the most, um, creative fashion turns in recent NBA history. So it makes sense he’d show up in New York for Fashion Week. Here are some of his best outfits during the celebrity-studded runway shows and parties.

Yeah, that’s Russ with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. She’s the impetus behind Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada, but Russ doesn’t seem very intimidated by the fashion icon.
Russ doesn’t scare easily, and that’s a good thing because his choice in clothing must lead to some guffaws from teammates in the locker-room. Despite his baffling wardrobe, Russ hit up the city in — err — style over the last week, so lets run down some of his best outfits.
He starts things off with a leather vest ensemble that reminds us of Eddie Murphy‘s “Delirious” comedy special when he rocked a red, full-body suit of leather. Russ could do it.

Then he switches it up and goes all-white with his trademark glasses. Though the eyewear seems to feature a lens — this time — it’s probably not a prescription, so Thunder fans can exhale.

Then we’ve got the denim suspenders drooping down like a contemporary Kriss-Kross homage.

Russ also showed off his proximity to the runway.

The notoriously hard-to-please Wintour seems to like Russ’ suspenders, though, so maybe we should cut him a break. We still think flannel is “in.”

We’re not so sure Wintour would dig the tight jorts and smiley-face t-shirt Russ wore to the U.S. Open in Queens, though.

We don’t even know what this is, but it looks like he’s wearing black leggings over a skirt of some sort.

Nice kicks! A+

Russ knows other fashion illuminati besides Wintour. Here he is talking withe Thai-American fashion designer, Thakoon Panichgul.

On a more basketball-related note, according to teammate Kevin Durant — in Spain for a Nike and Foot Locker event — Russ appears on-schedule to start in the season opener after he tore his meniscus in the opening game of the 2013 playoffs.
At a Nike&Foot Locker event in Barcelona (Spain), Kevin Durant said he expects Russell Westbrook to be ready for the start of the season.
