Oklahoma State sophomore and National Player of the Year candidate Marcus Smart was having his usual dominating game tonight, but he couldn’t hit an outside shot against South Florida. Except, right before halftime, the 6-4 point guard built like brick, lofted a 65-foot prayer that ripped the twine.
The shot would be Smart’s only three-pointer on a night when he struggled from the outside — save that 65-footer, of course. He was 8-of-16 from the field (1/4 3-pt) and 8-for-11 from the charity stripe for 25 points along with 4 steals, 4 assists and 3 boards in 32 minutes. The Cowboys won easily, 93-67 for their fifth straight win on the year, but we’ll all remember the game for Smart’s shot from well beyond half-court.
