We really, really don’t want to believe that this is the first recorded triple flop in history of the NBA. But after careful consideration and an initial inclination to judge it otherwise, we couldn’t come to any other other conclusion – Kenneth Faried, Rudy Gay, and DeMarcus Cousins all flopped simultaneously in Monday night’s matchup between the Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings.

Yikes.
Faried was tagged with a foul on the play, which doesn’t exactly seem fair. Each flop is horrendous in its own way, and it appears that Gay’s is the one that started the chain reaction of basketball embarrassment. But offense gets the benefit of doubt in these situations more than the defense does.
Here’s a way for Faried to avoid a foul altogether: Don’t flop.
The Kings continued their promising play to open the season, winning a hotly contested game on a back-to-back in the Mile High City. Impressive. Maybe now that Sacramento is winning Gay and Cousins, won’t resort to such antics? One can only hope, but we’re not optimistic.
