TRAILER: Chimps in Make-Up Vs. Dirty Dudes in ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’

In Rise of the Planet of the Apes (ROTPOTA), Andy Serkis famously acted like an ape becoming a man to show us what it means to be human. Serkis reprises his role as Spandex Ping Ping Suit Guy (Caesar) in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, opposite Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Judy Greer, and Keri Russell, in a story set in a world ravaged by the virus that spread around the world at the end of ROTPOTA (spoiler alert). BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO JAMES FRANCO AND HIS INDIAN GIRLFRIEND? Did he died? Anyway, the apes, led by Caesar, have since taken to the trees in war paint, like some sylvan Kiss Army. WHO WILL STOP THEM?

In the sequel, Caesar’s growing nation of genetically evolved apes is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species. [THR]

“I’ve got to get to the bottom of this virus. But first, me and this chimp in make-up are gonna have words.”

Caesar talked at the end of the first one. Does that mean this one is going to be 90 minutes of talking chimps? If I wanted to see that I’d watch a Seltzer-Friedberg movie. OH! Thanks, everyone, don’t forget to tip my mom.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, opens July 2014, directed by Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves, with screenplay by Mark Bomback.
