You may remember that a week ago today, A24 released a For Your Consideration video for James Franco, urging awards voters to consider Franco’s landmark “LOOK. AT MY SHIT.” performance in Spring Breakers, in a video entitled “Consider This Shit.” If you were skeptical about Sir Dicknose’s chances, skepticize no more, as he just picked up Best Supporting Actor honors from the LA Film Critics Award, in a tie with Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club. That’s right, a guy with grill and cornrows named “Alien,” and a flamboyant transvestite named “Rayon.” Clearly the LA Film Critics are all about subtlety.
You can see the full list of winners below. Franco was also nominated by the Washington DC-area film critics, which announce their winners today. I probably won’t be covering those, FYI. I’ve never understood the logic of these critics organizations all rushing to be the first to announce their year-end awards. Hey, you guys know that the general public won’t even see these films for another month or two, right? How are people supposed to care? Oh, but I know, it’s suuuper important to keep up with all the other critics associations. Nice job convincing people that film criticism isn’t an insular circle jerk, by the way. On that note, keep your eyes peeled for my list of the 10 most delicious sandwiches proles like you won’t be allowed to eat.
