Will Ferrell Will ‘Absolutely Not’ Make ‘Elf 2’

Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd were guests on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday night, as they were promoting a new indie film that they collaborated on, entitled, Anchorman: The Legend Continues. But lost in Andy Cohen’s playful antics, was a little tidbit about another sequel that has been rumored before, much like Anchorman and Old School, and that is Elf 2.

With Anchorman 2 set to make a few hundred million at the box office, it wouldn’t surprise many people if New Line and Warner Bros. decided that it was time to bring Buddy back for another adventure in 2014. But Ferrell quickly put an end to that one.

“Absolutely not,” Ferrell said. “I just think it would look slightly pathetic if I tried to squeeze back in the elf tights: Buddy the middle-aged elf.” (Via USA Today)

Will Ferrell turning down an opportunity to wear a stupid costume? I guess I’ll just set this script for Bewitched 2 on fire then. But the entire interview wasn’t full of passing blurbs like that, as Ferrell was also faced with a juvenile question that we would all probably like to know the answer to: “Who’d you rather – Tina or Amy?”

(The correct answer was, “Already have” followed by high fives to everyone in the studio.)
