Your First Look At Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Oliver Stone’s ‘Snowden’

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is starring in an upcoming Oliver Stone movie (called, simply, Snowden) about Edward Snowden (opposite Nic Cage!) and just posted this picture from the first day of shooting. The Edward Snowden case is screaming for us to have a discussion that transcends traditional left/right politics and decide whether our security agencies need special, super-legal protections, or if they should be subject to the same rules and whistleblower protections as other institutions.

And what better way to start this discussion than by having Snowden’s story told by a famous conspiracy theorist who will be immediately dismissed by half the populace? It’s almost too perfect. “He couldn’t just take his ball and go home… he had to piss on the whole game first.”

I suppose now is a good time to point out that CitizenFour, Laura Poitras’ (Oscar-winning) documentary about the Snowden situation is available for free on HBO Go. I swear to God, fellow liberals, if you start getting self-righteous about how this is all the Republicans’ fault I’m going to throw you in a van and drive you to a remote camp full of anti-vaxxers.
