If you thought that the inclusion of Colossus in the upcoming Deadpool film meant that Daniel Cudmore — who has played the character three times in FOX’s X-Men universe — would be able to buy a Miata with his fat movie check, your world is about to be fractured by the hammer of truth because Cudmore isn’t coming back to play Colossus. This according to Cudmore.
Thanks everyone for all the support for me 2 reprise the role of #Colossus in #Deadpool but unfortunately it won’t be happening for me con’t

I’ve had a blast playing such an awesome character over the years! #Deadpool will be kick-ass with #TimMiller and @VancityReynolds #BestFans

So, why the change? Was it Cudmore’s call? Does FOX want to go deeper with the character? Cudmore never really got the chance to flesh out Colossus, so that’s not entirely fair if that’s the case. Cudmore is a part of the old guard, though, so this may just be about making a change. X-Men: Apocalypse is going with a new Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops, so why not inject some new blood into the franchise with Colossus as well?
There are so many questions, but the biggest one is: with Cudmore out, who’s in? My prediction is someone tall who isn’t Daniel Cudmore, but don’t hold me to it.
