Up to this point, we’ve assumed that Marvel is just calling Guardians of the Galaxy 2… well, Guardians of the Galaxy 2. According to James Gunn, however, that’s just a placeholder, and the real title is a spoiler.

Gunn might just be making fun of the shoddy photo, but that said, it also wouldn’t be a surprise if the sequel was going to tie more closely to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s widely speculated that Star-Lord’s real father is Adam Warlock or another major Marvel space-farer, which presumably will come up in the sequel. And, of course, Thanos was behind the events of the first movie, and he’s a major player in the Avengers sequels, so we also have that to consider.
Or Gunn’s messing with us. But it’s more fun to contemplate movies that could be, right?
