Captain America: Civil War won’t hit theaters until next year, but the speculation about what we will see in the film has hit full height (especially following the addition of Spider-Man to the fesitivites). Heroic Hollywood has published a report that hints at who we will see joining each opposing side in the battle between Iron Man and Captain America and it isn’t good news if you were a fan of the new Avengers from the end of Age of Ultron.
The split between Iron Man essentially splits the new team, keeping Scarlet Witch and Falcon with Captain America, along with newcomer Ant-Man, Hawkeye and The Winter Soldier / Bucky Barnes. On Tony Stark’s highly uneven side, we reportedly see The Vision (and his Infinity stone), War Machine, Black Widow, and Spider-Man.
The site also posted a synopsis for the film that sorta details what leads to the point of separation among the Avengers team, hinting at double agents and some evil player behind the scenes:
“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”
I’d like to know –if this is true, of course — who was in Spider-Man’s place before Spider-Man was acquired from Sony? Also it should be noted that this is all speculation and rumor until the official word hits from the Marvel team. It isn’t out of the realm of possibility, though, and it certainly jives with the overall theme of the storyline.
