Last week, Gotham set up the origin of Firefly, a scrub Batman villain mostly notable for his annoying side missions in video games. This week, Firefly gets to light stuff on fire, and Gordon might have to shoot Selena Kyle in the face. Yep, it’s time yet again to beat up kids on Gotham!
It is nice to see a Selena-centric episode, as the show appears to have more or less forgotten about her until this point, aside from Sean Pertwee going full Dog Soldiers on her skull. Pairing her off with a teenage girl who expresses her feelings with flamethrowers promises to be a lot of fun. As for the season’s overarching plot, last episode, Penguin cut off poor Butch’s hand and now Butch has to use that to infiltrate the operation of the big bad Theo Galavan. And since Galavan wants to sacrifice Bruce Wayne to some creepy monastic order, this should get interesting quickly.
The question, of course, is what it’ll do when it’s up against tonight’s other DC series. Yep, tonight’s the night: Supergirl airs at 8:30/7:30c tonight on CBS, and we’ll finally see how much of it is Supergirl action and how much of it is romantic comedy-type stuff. Honestly, I’m going to watch Gotham all the way through and then catch Supergirl the next day; Supergirl looks great but Gotham is consistently and relentlessly ridiculous, and that wins the day. It all starts at 8 p.m. EST. Join us, won’t you?
