Avengers: Infinity War is going to be quite the jam-packed superhero extravaganza. According to Avengers masterminds Joe and Anthony Russo, the movie will feature a whopping 68 “distinct characters,” although exactly what that means is up for debate. Does the traditional Stan Lee cameo count as a character? What about every random S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who gets a line? Despite vague promises of lots and lots of superheroes, fans are still eager to know who, exactly, is going to be in the film.
Well, if you’re a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy (and who isn’t?), you’re probably in luck. The Russos have already teased Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord will be in the movie, and now Avengers: Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are teasing the Guardians and Avengers universes will cross over in a serious way. When asked about the potential team up by The Nerdist, they had this to say…
“Let me put it this way — you know who owns that Gauntlet, right? And you know he’s in another movie, and his kids are in that movie. It’s a big universe. You do that math.”
That seems to be a pretty solid confirmation that Thanos’ warring adopted daughters Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) will be in Infinity War, and probably pretty crucial to the plot. Add the Star-Lord hints to the mix, and a pretty good chunk of the Guardians cast are accounted for. And come on, it’s not like Marvel is going to leave Groot or Rocket out – they haven’t made their billions of dollars by accident.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives May 5, 2017 to be followed by the first part of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018.
