As you clearly know by now, it’s finally here – Back to the Future Day. After years of your a-hole and idiot friends passing along photoshopped DeLorean dashboard settings for the sake of hilarious hijinks, October 21, 2015 marks the actual day that Marty McFly traveled to in Back to the Future Part II to push cinematic product placement beyond our wildest expectations. Sure, there’s no way that Robert Zemeckis and Co. could have known that the Chicago Cubs would make it so deep into the MLB Playoffs this year or that the guy who Biff Tannen was based on is actually dominating headlines today, but it’s still fun for everyone to look back at 1989’s vision of today and see what the film got right and wrong.
While the Cubs are currently down 0-3 to the New York Mets in the NLCS, their playoff success, even if it just means winning today, would obviously be the extra cheese on top of today’s dehydrated Pizza Hut pizza. Can they pull it off and give us all something to cheer about, keeping the dream of winning a DeLorean alive? We sure hope so. As for what comes next now that this day is finally here, perhaps we can focus on Good Will Hunting Day. Or maybe we can just recognize it as Kim Kardashian’s birthday. Nah, there has to be something better.
