Cardi B just had the year of her life. From to going No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Bodak Yellow” to having her first three singles land on the top 10, the Bronx rhymer didn’t just kick in the door of the rap game, she continuously made history. What’s most impressive is what she did in the fourth quarter of 2017, not only staying active but breaking records. So many of tonight’s Grammy nominees were chosen for work that seems to be from the first half of 2017, but Cardi’s breakout success is still fresh on our minds. It’s only right she got to culminate her come up with a performance at this year’s Grammys.
Cardi got with superstar Bruno Mars — who has won four Grammys so far tonight — to perform the remix to Mars’ New Jack Swing-era “Finesse” hit, which electrified the crowd. Cardi held her own with Bruno and the rest of the colorfully-dressed dancers against the early 90’s-themed backdrop. Cardi was hoping to finesse a couple trophies from the Grammy committee, but “Bodak Yellow” lost out to Kendrick Lamar.
No matter what the trophy count, Cardi B had one of the best rookie runs in hip-hop history. After you watch the video above, you can check out the full winner’s list here, and stream the Grammys with one of the links here.
