As the official, full list of nominees is revealed, The 6 God leads the way with nine nods including ones for ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Video of the Year,’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for his joint effort with Future for “Where Ya At.”
Following right behind Drizzy are his frequent collaborator Rihanna and Beyonce, each lady singled out for five nominations. Beyonce and Rihanna are both in the running for ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Video of the Year,’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for “Feeling Myself” and “Work” respectively. Others landing multiple mentions are Chris Brown, newcomer Bryson Tiller and Future, who all were nominated in four categories.
This year’s show will also highlight the late legend Prince, Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Programming, said via press release. “This show will be innovative and special; in addition to celebrating the best in entertainment, we’ll also spend time throughout the show remembering Prince as only BET can.
