Riz Ahmed, star of The Night Of and Rogue One, became the latest contestant Monday night on James Corden’s “Drop the Mic” series. Corden just may regret deciding to get into the ring with Ahmed because unlike other celebrities he’s sparred with, the British actor is also an actual rapper who goes by the name RizMC. Donning a boxer’s robe, Ahmed came out exactly as confident as he should have been before delivering a verbal beatdown, comparing him to Ellen Degeneres, taunting his late airtime, and even making fun of his favorite soccer team.
To his credit, Corden did get in a few good lines, including a reference to his guest role in Girls: “Your sex scene might need an acting class / You didn’t have to get naked to show us you’re an ass.” But Ahmed clapped right back, rapping, “Yeah I had Lena’s baby, it was fun / I was on Girls, but you never touched one.”
The line of the night also goes to Ahmed, and in topical fashion: “You aren’t an MC, you begged me to let you down gently / I wouldn’t stop this war if Kendall Jenner brought out Pepsis.”
